Luca Mazzola
Luca was born in 1979 near Bergamo (Italy), where he studied till the high school.
Then he studied Computer Science at the technical university 'Politecnico di Milano' from 1999 to 2004 , when he graduated with a master thesis based on a software prototype he developed. It was aimed to be a supportive system toward an educational oriented personalizable online video service, applied to the field of medical informatics.
He decided to join the Medical Informatics laboratory staff, where he developed his master thesis, and from 2006 he also collaborated as a teacher assistant for the course of Medical Informatics at PoliMi.
In the meantime he worked at CILEA (one of the 3 Italian national interuniversity consortium for the ICT), where he is devoted to e-learning field and to customize a VLE for some important projects, but after a 3 years period he decided to improve his education and he applied for a RED-INK Ph.D. position, related to a project in the 7th European Framework Program, called GRAPPLE.
He then he joined the NewMinE lab in January 2008 . Based on the call, his main task is related to advanced and intelligent technologies for the personalization of the learning experience, with a focus on adaptive systems.
He likes high technology devices, and he need to know how they work, but he likes as well open-air activities, like running, trekking and cycling.
