Andrea Mazzei

Andrea Mazzei is currently a research assistant of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), under supervision of Professor Pierre Dillenbourg.

He received the Bachelor and the Master in Computer Engineering from “La Sapienza” University of Rome in July 2004 and September 2008, respectively.
He moved to Kristiansand (Norway) in January 2008 where he worked on his Master's Thesis, collaborating with Armusement AS, a newly established company focused on Augmented Reality technologies. There he developed a monocular 3D tracking system that allows users to interact with virtual/augmented environments using a simple magic wand as gesture input device.

He also spent almost two years (from January 2004 to October 2005) working for LEKS (Laboratory for Enterprise Knowledge and Systems) at the National Research Council of Italy, hired on a research project called Athos (ATHena Ontology management System). During his Master he also worked as computer consultant at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in Rome in different periods of employment.
