Silvia de Ascaniis

I was born in Giulianova, Italy, on 13th May 1982 and I lived there until the first university year, when I moved to Lugano to study at Università della Svizzera Italiana. I completed there the Bachelor (2004) and the Master in Communication Sciences (2007) with a major in Institutional Communication. During the Master I spent six months at the Gutenberg Universität in Mainz, Germany, where I focused my studies on communication research methodology, and I improved German, that’s a language I’m fond of. I worked as student-assistant at ICIeF – Institutional and Formative Communication Institute – and as tutor for the Linguistic on-line course “Swissling”.

My Master thesis was an attempt to analyze a bioethics controversy throughout the theory of argumentation, a research field that I took forward when, after graduation, I moved to Rome to work at Unviersità Europea in the CeFI - Integral Formation Department. CeFI is engaged in improving students’ full formation, on its knowledge, ethic and social aspects as well as helping them learning a study method. I there worked as assistant for the content development and management of educational activities in logic-argumentative and ethic-anthropologic fields, and I collaborated to the content development for the project “Secondary high school students personal development”.

Last December I was accepted at Red-Ink doctoral school for a Ph.D. on Visual Languages for Instructional Design, and I now work for the eLab – eLearning Lab - in some eLearning projects.

I like spending my free-time cooking for my friends, reading fantasy stories (I’m a fan of C. S. Lewis), training open air sports like trekking or skating and, least but not last, playing with my little nephew.
